Recreational Vehicles on City Streets The State of Minnesota requires that four-wheelers (Class I and Class II) have permits to operate on city streets. The permit issued must be affirmatively administered by the local authority.
Note: The local authority on Mound Streets and Hennepin County DO NOT allow said permits and therefore it is unlawful to drive these vehicles on city streets.
Snowmobiles Snowmobiles are generally allowed on city streets between all hours, except 2 AM - 6 AM. Snowmobile operations in the city are regulated by Minnesota State Statute and City Ordinance
Unlawful Snowmobile Activity It is unlawful for any person to operate a snowmobile within 100 feet of a pedestrian, fisherman, skating rink, sliding area, cemetery, or on private property without the consent of the property owner. All snowmobiles must be equipped with a standard muffler, "deadman" throttle, headlight, taillight, and current registration.
No snowmobiles shall be operated between the hours of 2 AM - 6 AM. on city streets, roadways, and public lands that are not adjacent to public waters.
Snowmobile Age Requirements No person between the ages of 14 and 18 shall operate a snowmobile on a public street or ice-covered public waters without a valid snowmobile safety certificate issued by the State of Minnesota.
No person under the age of 14 shall operate a snowmobile on public properties.
