Engineering & Construction Projects

All City of Mound streets will be subject to maintenance and major rehabilitation at some time during their lifespan. We use seal coating, patching and mill and overlay techniques to greatly extend pavement life. However, at some point the road condition deteriorates to the point that complete reconstruction becomes the most cost-effective solution.

2026 Projects

Water Tower Maintenance and Repainting - Evergreen Tower
Painting, also called recoating, a water tower occurs approximately every 25-30 years. Repainting the exterior coating protects the steel structure from rust and other environmental damage, as well as providing an opportunity to update the look of the tower.
What you should know:

  • Location: Sorbo Park (6100 Evergreen Rd.)
  • Design and Construction: Spring - Summer 2026
  • Resident Impact: Portions of Sorbo Park will be closed for the staging of equipment. The playground will remain open.

Water Treatment Infrastructure - Phase 2
The City of Mound is starting the construction portion of the Water Treatment Infrastructure Improvements Project Phase 2. This project includes the replacement and upsizing of water transmission mains from the tower on Evergreen Road, heading east to Bartlett Boulevard and on CSAH 110 up to Old Shoreline Drive (just south of the stoplights). This project is 100% funded through State and Federal grants. You can learn more about the project here. Learn more about water treatment here.

Street Reconstruction Improvements

Street reconstruction typically involves complete replacement of the roadway section, repair/installation of concrete curb and gutter, and repairs or replacement of the underground public utilities.
What you should know:

  • Location: The following streets will have a mill and overlay.
    • Hillcrest Rd (Diamond Ln to Sycamore Ln) – replace watermain
    • Diamond Ln – replace watermain
    • Gumwood Rd – replace watermain
    • Langdon Ln (Lynwood Blvd to Gumwood Rd) – replace watermain
    • Glenwood Blvd
    • Old Shoreline Dr – replace watermain
    • Marion Ln – replace watermain
    • Kildare Rd (cul-de-sac to Kerry Ln)
    • Bluffs Ln
    • Bluffs Dr
    • Highview Ln
    • Bay Ridge Rd (Bluffs Ln to Highview Ln)
  • Construction: Late Summer / Fall 2026
  • Resident Impact: Residents will retain access to their driveways each night, however access to streets may be closed during the work day. Project team members will send direct communication to residents affected by closures, water shut offs or other impacts. More information will be made available closer to the construction season.

Mill and Overlay Street Maintenance
A mill and overlay is street maintenance technique that requires the removal of the top layer (approximately 2") of a street by the grinding action of a large milling machine. After the top layer is removed, a new layer of bituminous pavement is put in its place. This helps extend the life of a street before it needs to be reconstructed.
What you should know:

  • Location: The following streets will have a mill and overlay.
    • Sinclair Ct (Sinclair Rd to Cul-de-sac)
    • Sinclair Rd (6185 Sinclair Rd to Sinclair Ct)
    • Priest Ln
    • Langdon Ln (Lynwood to south cul-de-sac)
    • Aspen Rd
    • Lafayette Ln (Three Points Blvd to Jones Ln)
    • Jones Ln (Lafayette Ln to Three Points Blvd)
    • Baywood Shores Dr
    • Baywood Ln
    • Westwood Cir
    • Beachwood Rd (Westedge Blvd to Rosewood Ln)
    • Granger Ln
    • Bay Ridge Rd (Cul-de-sac to Westedge Blvd)
    • Halstead Ln
  • Construction: Late Summer / Fall 2026
  • Resident Impact: Parking will be restricted in the immediate area of the work; notice of a parking restriction will be posted 24 hours prior to work starting.

Crack Seal Maintenance
Crack seal is a heated, adhesive blend of rubber and asphalt which can be used to fill cracks to extend the life of the street. The sealant forms a long-lasting, resilient seal that is flexible and expandable in varying and extreme pavement temperatures.
What you should know:

  • Location: Entire length of Three Points Boulevard.
  • Construction: Summer 2026
  • Resident Impact: There should be little to no impact on residents during this work.

Sewer Lining
Sewer Lining is a way to repair cracked or damaged pipes without digging into the street.  Lining creates a new, tough pipe inside the existing damaged or problem pipe, promoting a better flow and sealing off cracks and joints where roots can grow through.
What you should know:

  • Location: E-3 Sanitary Sewer Area, streets near Avon Park (2950 Island Dr.)
  • Construction: Summer/Fall 2026
  • Resident Impact: Staging of construction vehicles for this work will happen near Avon Park. If homes in the area need to be accessed they will be contacted by Mound Public Works.
