Code Enforcement

Code Enforcement
The City of Mound's Code Enforcement staff work with residents to ensure neighborhoods are clean, safe, and healthy for the community to enjoy. Staff respond to questions and concerns appropriately to preserve property values and prevent unsafe, unsanitary conditions from infringing on the rights of others.

Nuisance Conditions
Nuisance conditions are defined in Chapter 42 of the Mound City Code.

While each situation is unique, some common violations include:
  • Excessive storage of items in a yard
  • Storage of junked or abandoned vehicles on site
  • Accumulation of junk, debris, rubble, or construction materials
  • Unmown turfed areas
  • Discarded household items like electronics, appliances, and furniture
  • Dilapidated or collapsing structures
Collaborative Efforts
The City encourages neighbors to address issues early in the process, before matters grow beyond easy solutions. This can be done through neighborly communication. The City does recognize that this is not always possible or practical in some situations.

Contact City Staff
Nuisance matters are addressed and/or enforced through a complaint-based process. This means that city staff is not always proactively looking for and initiating action on violations. To initiate city action, a complaint must be filed with the City. To file a complaint, please use the form found above.

Staff is available to respond to any questions regarding code clarifications, potential violations, and/or for notifications of violations received.
