In February, the City of Mound was notified that as part of the Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment Appropriations Act, 2026 (H.R. 6938) the City has received $1,092,000 of federal funding toward the construction of a Water Treatment Plant.
The Water Treatment Plant, which is estimated to cost approximately $36 million, has now received approximately $11.3 million toward construction through State and Federal funds. “The City is working hard and creatively to finance a water treatment plant. We’re grateful for Senator Klobuchar, Senator Smith and Representative Morrison for their important support in securing this funding,” shared Mayor Jason Holt.
The City seeks to build a plant to address elevated levels of manganese found in the water supply. The City has requested additional funding through the Minnesota State Capital Bonding process at the State Legislature.
